Mr. Gerardo (Jerry) Rivera began his career as a distinguished Police Officer and Detective with the Metro-Dade Police Department in Miami, Florida. Here he handled drug-related cases and kidnappings. During many of these cases, he worked closely with such diverse agencies as Interpol and the FBI.
Upon retirement, Mr. Rivera moved to Tallahassee and enrolled in the Florida State University College of Law. After graduating in 2000, he worked both in private practice and for the Florida Commission on Human Relations, where he supervised investigators charged with the responsibility of investigating cases of employment discrimination. During his tenure at the Florida Commission on Human Relations he developed an expertise in employment law and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Mr. Rivera's next role was as the interim Director of the Office of Diversity Enhancement and Compliance for Florida State University, where he was in charge of the University's EEO compliance efforts. Upon completion of his term, Mr. Rivera became a private consultant in the areas of private investigations and EEO compliance. Today, Mr. Rivera draws upon a strong network of professional resources that include seasoned practitioners in both the private and public sectors.
